The Welsh Curry House of the Year 2012 competition will follow the same successful formula as 2011 and will continue to have three regional heats giving a larger number of restaurants and the voting public the opportunity to participate in the competition.
The four key stages and dates for the competition are:
Stage One: The Launch
The Competition to find the best curry house in Wales is launched on Thursday 5 January 2012.
Stage Two: The Public Votes
The public will be able to vote from 5 - 31 January 2012. All the restaurants competing in 2012 are registered in the Restaurants Directory and members of the public can register their vote for their favourite restaurant on-line or using voting cards which are available in participating restaurants.
Stage Three: Curry Festival - Regional Finals
The results of the public vote will be announced on Thursday 16 February 2012. The top 30 restaurants, 15 from South Wales, 10 from North Wales and 5 from Mid & West, will be announced via our media partners and this website.
All 30 of the short listed restaurants will have to agree to make a Welsh Curry using Welsh Lamb available on their public menu during the Curry Festival starting from 20 February - 25 March 2012.
The competition’s pre selection jury will have five weeks to visit the 30 restaurants and sample the Welsh Curry using the guidelines which proved successful in 2011.
The top three restaurants in Wales, one from each region, will be announced on:
Monday 26 March 2012
Stage Four: The National Final
The final stage of the competition will involve the National Judges visiting all three of the restaurants. During the visit each restaurant will be invited to impress the judges with one of their signature dishes, available from the public menu including the new Welsh Curry.
The National Judges will be visiting the Top 3 Indian restaurants early in April 2012.
The National Winner will be announced during a Gala Dinner at the Red Dragon Centre in Cardiff Bay on Monday 23 April 2012.
